The kitchen is important

Many buyers judge housekeeping by the kitchen. Oven, stove and other appliances should be spotless. Repair or replace anything that sticks, squeaks or drips. Counter space should be kept open and uncluttered; store countertop appliances. Floors and walls should be bright and clean.

    Marion, Iowa can best be described as funky and nostalgic, historic and eccentric.  This city’s pretty and preserved vintage charms are so much more than sweet and here you’ll find a varied and diverse culture of bona fide spunk.  Throughout the year, Marion is the place to live with excellent shopping and delicious places to eat!  However, you can't shop and eat all of the time, which is why Marion is well known for creating and hosting events of extraordinary range and quality, year around.

    One thing Marion is known for is the variety of festivals that are hosted in town for every season.  Starting out the festival season is the Marion Arts Festival held each May.  Consistently named among the top tier of juried art events nationwide, the Marion Arts Festival presents many artists, offering fine arts and crafts, along with music, food and a half-marathon and 5K.  September celebrates the past and the present at the annual Swamp Fox Festival which honors Marion's namesake and Revolutionary War hero, Francis Marion, aka the Swamp Fox.  Some of the many scheduled events include a picnic in the park, live music, craft show, 5K run and fun walk, a pancake breakfast and a parade. 

    During the fall, local businesses come together for the Harvest Moon Chocolate Walk, an annual event that features a chocolate treat in every participating business.  Every December, Marion welcomes Santa by firetruck at Christmas in the Park and Peppermint Walk with music, crafts and peppermint treats.

    While Marion has a variety of festivals to celebrate with the community, the city also boasts a wide assortment of music, art and other activities.  Throughout the summer, live music can be heard at Marion Square Park.  The Uptown Marion Market happens the second Saturday of each month from June to August and features fresh produce, baked goods, honey, flowers, plants, meat, wines, and an array of artisan items.  The Marion Farmers Market also happens each Wednesday and Saturday from May through September. You can also cool off at the Aquatics Center, take a stroll along the sculpture walk, explore fine art at an art gallery or view the historic Granger House.

  • Iowa City Iowa

Over the years, Hancher has been host to productions such as Rent, Cats, Les Misérables, and Stomp. The Hancher stage is frequented by the likes of Yo Yo Ma, Jerry Seinfeld, and Wynton Marsalis.

    If you’re looking for a more scenic view, in Iowa City area alone there are 41 public parks, several of which overlook the scenic Iowa River. Many of these parks are equipped with networks of walking and biking trails, and quaint picnic sites and prairie reserves.
